Best Upcoming Events This Spring in Charlotte, NC

From mud runs to Kentucky Derby parties, spring is a great time to live in Charlotte. As you enjoy the freedom of opening the windows in your apartment to let in some fresh spring air, you’ll also want to clear some time in your calendar for some popular up-and-coming events. Here are some of the must-do spring events in the greater Charlotte area.

MuckFest MS Run 2017
May 6, Concord Speedway
Head to the Concord Speedway on May 6 to enjoy a muddy run to support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Get dirty with your friends while testing your physical strength, all while enjoying earning money for a worthy charity. The 5K run will take you through super-sized obstacles and plenty of mud and muck. It’s designed to be a fun, family-friendly event, and all race completers enjoy a free beer or soda at the MuckFestival at the end. Spectators can watch the shenanigans for free, and kids can play in the Lil’ Muckers area for free as well. The race starts at 9 a.m.

Spring Fling Hippie Fest
May 6-7, 5471 Central Ave.
Head to the Spring Fling Hippie Fest on May 6 and 7 to enjoy vendor booths, bands, breweries, artists and performers celebrating the laid back hippie culture. This event is hosted by the South Pacific Island Committee and is free to attend.

2017 North Carolina Brewers and Music Festival
May 12-13, Historic Rural Hill
Just outside of Charlotte you can experience a full weekend of craft beer from local breweries combined with local music. On Friday Night, the Campground Jam will bring several local performers to the stage performing solely for the Friday Night Campers. Saturday opens the tasting sessions, giving you the chance to enjoy the craft beer from several local breweries. Make plans to camp overnight for the full experience!

Derby Days
May 6, Mint Museum Randolph
Deemed the “Best Party for Young Professionals,” Derby Days is a great place to see and be seen. Each year over 400 of the best up and coming professionals in Charlotte come together at the Mint Museum Randolph for live music, lawn games, drinks, food trucks, raffles and a live viewing of the Kentucky Derby. The event is a fundraiser for the museum, but attendees pull out all the stops with sundresses, seersuckers and colorful hats for the festivities. This is an event you don’t want to miss. Festivities start at 3 and tickets cost $40.
