Did you know that The VUE recently opened a new spa for community residents to enjoy? Not only can you live in a beautiful apartment space, but you now also have the luxury of having a spa right there! But before you take advantage of this fabulous amenity, it is important to brush up on your spa and steam room etiquette.
- Read all signs posted throughout the facility.
These signs are displayed for a reason, and it is imperative that you follow all the guidelines that have been established. This makes for a more enjoyable experience for everyone! For example, the signs will indicate whether it is a co-ed steam room or if there are separate steam rooms for men and women. The signs may also indicate important rules, such as if bathing suits are required.
- Wear a towel and sandals into the steam room.
As a courtesy to anyone else who may be using the steam room, you should always cover yourself with a towel. It is both the respectful and modest thing to do in a public area. Additionally, as you can imagine, steam rooms get hot. You want to protect your skin and feet from coming into direct contact with any areas that could be extremely hot and uncomfortable.
- Shower before you enter the spa or steam room.
People come into the spa to relax and unwind. Even if you are planning on sweating it all out in the steam room, it is best to shower beforehand to keep the space sanitary and enjoyable for everyone. Plus, you also want to wash off any lotion or makeup that you have on your body, since it could all drip off while you are in the steam room. On a related note, you should also remove all jewelry since it could become very hot, very quickly.
- Know your limits.
Especially if you are not used to being in a steam room, you need to listen to your body. First, you should always make sure you are hydrated very well beforehand. If you start to feel nauseous or faint at all, it is time for you to get out. You do not want to push yourself too much. Your body will know when you have had enough of the heat, and you should remove yourself from the steam room immediately. Then, allow your body to cool off slowly and naturally.
