5 Things to Do in Austin in the Fall

Fall is an excellent time to enjoy all that makes Austin amazing. Austin Oktoberfest
On September 28 at 5:00 head to the Saengerrunde & Scholz Garten for Oktoberfest. Get your fill of sausage and beer while enjoying live performances on the stage and celebrating German heritage of the region. Food and Wine Magazine calls this one of the Best Oktoberfest in America, and the event was also named the Best Fall Festival in Austin by Culture Map. Austin City Limits Music Festival
Starting October 4 and running through October 13, Austin’s Zilker Metropolitan Park will come alive with the ACL Music Festival. Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, live music performances will take to the stage. In addition to local bands, you can hear nationally-known names like Billie Eilish, Cardi B, Mumford and Sons, and Guns N’ Roses. There’s something for everyone at this popular event.

Fall Festival at Anderson Mill Limited District
Harper Park is hosting a fall festival on September 28. Starting at 4:00 with live music from Bustamoovalators at 4:30, the Fall Festival at Anderson Mill Limited District provides fun for all. Vendors and food trucks, yard games, inflatables, and the movie Trolls under the stars are all part of this event. The movie begins at 7:30, and the concert runs from 4:30 to 6:30.

Texas Book Festival 2019
If you’d rather read a book than drink a beer, this is the event for you. On October 26 and 27, head to the Texas State Capitol in downtown Austin for the Texas Book Festival. This event has been running for 24 years, and it brings some of the best authors to town for book talks and signings. Bring your wallet, because you’re certain to find some hard-to-find works available for sale.

Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival
If you love music and handcrafted art, head to Dripping Springs, just 27 minutes away from Austin, on October 18 through 20. This music festival will highlight some of the area’s top songwriters, and also brings out food trucks, vendor booths, artisans, and more. You can do some shopping and enjoy the local talent at this popular fall event.
