Charlotte’s Best Holiday Events 2019

The holiday season is upon us, and at Pinehurst on Providence, we think this is one of the best times to live in the area. If you’re looking for something to do after you’ve decorated your apartment for the holiday, we have a list of great local festivities to consider. These are some of the top holiday events in Charlotte that you won’t want to miss.

Uptown’s Holiday on Ice
If you love to ice skate, you’ll want to head to the NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza for Holiday on Ice. This annual event brings 10,000 gallons of water to the plaza to transform it into a festive outdoor ice rink. Holiday on Ice is open most days through January 5.

Weihnachtsmark Weekend
Have you ever experienced a German Christmas market? OMB gives you that opportunity on December 6 through 8 at its annual Weihnachtsmarkt Weekend. Stop in for holiday music, lights, shopping, and German-inspired holiday food. You’ll love the scent of fire pits, the taste of Gluhwein, a specialty spiced wine, and the sounds of live holiday music at this annual event.

Charlotte Christmas Village
Charlotte Christmas Village, or Christkindlmarkt, is another European-inspired marketplace. Located on the corner of 7th and North Tryon, Charlotte Christmas Village also has Gluhwein, as well as hot cider, hot chocolate, and other food options. You can get your picture with Santa, enjoy live music performances, and shop for unique souvenirs and gifts, and entry is free. This market runs throughout the season until Christmas Eve.

Speedway Christmas
Whether or not you’re a race fan, you’ll want to visit the Speedway this season. Charlotte Motor Speedway hosts Speedway Christmas, which brings 4 million lights to the racetrack along with a Bethlehem village, Ferris wheel, carousel, rides, and Santa himself. Roast s’mores over an open fire, park your car for a drive-in Christmas movie and enjoy plenty of food and games. The event is open weekends through December 12 then every night from December 12 to December 29.

USNWC Holiday Light Trail
If large Christmas festivals aren’t your style, consider the Holiday Light Trail at the US National Whitewater Center. This free half-mile trail features light installations from artist Meredith Connelly. The immersive light experience is inspired by nature, so it will give you a unique perspective for your holiday season. The trail is open daily from 6 to 10 at night.

Whether you’re looking to shop until you drop, want to experience a light show, or simply want to enjoy some holiday music, you’ll find that Charlotte’s events deliver. Pick a few from this list to round out your holiday festivities.
