Most Anticipated New Restaurants Coming to Uptown Charlotte in 2020

Life in an apartment in uptown Charlotte may come with a gourmet kitchen, but with so many food and drink options close to The VUE, chances are you will spend more nights out than in. While your beautiful kitchen waits when you do want to cook, don’t be afraid to explore the restaurant scene to the fullest. In 2020, some new players are coming to the Charlotte restaurant scene, and you’ll want to check them out. Here are some that have recently been announced.

Tupelo Honey
Tupelo Honey has been serving up made-from-scratch Southern food in the South End since 2000, and this popular restaurant has grown to become one of the top choices in that neighborhood. In 2020, they are bringing their Southern tastes to the Uptown community. The restaurant will open at the corner of Tryon and Trade in the winter next year, with brunch on the weekends, lunch during the week, and dinner daily. While they have many Southern favorites, chicken and waffles is by far one of the top choices on the menu.

Saku
In 2020, Uptown will welcome the 13,000-square-foot Binaco Tower. This five-story building will house five new restaurants, and Saku is one of them. Saku will be a contemporary Asian izakaya, similar to a Japanese pub. This restaurant will pair drinks with small plates for a unique dining experience, drawing on the food truck style cuisine of Japan. Saku is tentatively scheduled for a January 2020 opening. The remaining four tenants for Binaco Tower have not yet been announced but are all going to be restaurant or bar options to bring even more opportunities to foodies in Uptown.

Orto
With an opening scheduled for April 2020, Orto is coming to NoDa, which is close enough to Uptown to be almost part of the community. This upscale, yet casual restaurant features the work of Chef Paul Verica, and it will be an Italian concept restaurant. Orto will be part of the Novel NoDa project, which is opening next year on 36th street. Pasta, pizza, salad, and shared appetizers are all likely to appear on the menu, but the final details are still under wraps.

The People’s Market
With a convenient location near The VUE, The People’s Market will be opening a second location in Fourth Ward’s historic Charlotte Fire Station No. 4. Rumor has it; there will be a rooftop bar. Brace yourself for local coffee during the morning, sandwiches for lunch, and a stocked bar every evening.

As 2020 gets closer, word on more restaurants opening in Uptown and the surrounding communities will likely come. At The VUE, we will keep you informed about these new dining options near our community, so you can be among the first to taste what they have to offer.
